The following statement is gladly provided to illustrate the excellent teaching and support Joy Naylor has provided for my daughter, Meriel, during the past six years through the Junior Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester.
Whilst she clearly had great potential my daughter had little or no knowledge of voice and singing technique . Joy immediately struck up an excellent relationship with her and was careful to gradually develop a shared understanding of her voice and its qualities.
Joy’s holistic approach ensured that Meriel was able to develop her repertoire, vocal technique , range and tone, and it is to Joy’s credit that Meriel subsequently learnt the importance of caring for her voice.
Under Joy’s guidance Meriel has gone from strength to strength winning the Helen Latto Soroptomist Prize for singers in her final year at the JRNCM, before acquiring a Choral Scholarship at St. John’s College, Oxford.
Joy has been an inspiration to Meriel.
She has that unique quality of being able to tap into a student’s personality and character so as to gradually plant seeds of technique, musicianship and performance that have the potential to flower into brilliant singing.
As Meriel’s father I am immensely proud of my daughter’s achievement , however, I recognise that Joy has more than provided outstanding teaching , support and assistance to enable her to reach the standard she has achieved .

My daughter began lessons with Joy 5 years ago.
